TROOP 10 GUIDELINES FOR
NUT FREE TRIPS & MEALS We are attempting to provide a safe environment for a scout that is allergic to peanuts, tree nuts & sesame seeds. This is a very difficult process to perfect and because of the cross contamination issue, we will ask that all scouts on designated “Nut Free” functions follow this procedure. The simplest way to achieve a successful nut free menu is to purchase simple ingredients and to avoid pre-packaged (rice mixes, hamburger helper, Hungry Man dinners etc.) & prepared foods. Bakery items are difficult to determine, especially self serve items. Store brands & generic brands are notorious for poor labeling and potential contamination. The large, nation wide brands are typically the best at control of ingredients & labeling. Read all labels thoroughly including ingredients, allergen information and “manufactured in a facility…” In all cases please make the best possible effort to be sure that ingredient labels are included, even if the food is repacked for traveling. The following are some suggestions:
Breakfast:
Lunch & Dinner:
Snack Food: The list above is simply for suggestion; it is by no means exclusive. The easiest way to keep to the program is to buy simple ingredients
